I've struggled with weight since I was a teen and have never not been overweight. I decided to go and see Paulina after I reached my 25th birthday and realised that I had put on a lot of weight over the past year and did not want to keep going in the same direction. I knew I needed to make a change to be more active, but I didn't quite realise how much of an impact Paulina was going to have on the rest of my life.
The physical effects are obvious - over the past year with on and off training I have managed to lose 23kg/50lbs - and while the fat has come off, the body underneath is also stronger and has more energy and is more skilled in its movement.
Paulina has not only helped me physically. Mentally, Paulina has educated me about diet and nutrition but also on how life affects the body, from alcohol, to your menstrual cycle, to how weight loss actually works - it's not always as simple as you think! Paulina has taught me stamina, consistency, and strength.
Emotionally, Paulina has been my rock. If you are like me and have struggled with weight for a long time, making long lasting change is scary and you have to confront those emotions that led to where you are. I can rely on Paulina to talk about these things as it's all part of the journey.
This is what makes Paulina a great personal trainer because she assists in all these areas, and this is what makes you be the best you can be. It isn't just a case of getting into the gym and being instructed to do different exercises, but sometimes the most important and valuable parts are the conversations had before and after the workout, where we assess progress but also talk about life.
Don't get me wrong - if you want someone to tell you what to do to achieve your dream bod - Paulina will do that! But she'll also pick you up when you fall and be right there if you do.
